With the epidemic knocking at our doors, our aim is to reach each and every citizen of our society and make them ‘dementia literate’ with at least the first level of knowledge. Towards this end, ARDSI Calcutta regularly holds awareness sessions/camps, arrange talks aided by computer presentations, video shows, etc., develop and distribute information materials like quarterly newsletter, brochures, etc. We also started the “ Dementia Friendly Community” initiative recently where trained dementia workers visit shops, banks, pharmacies, and other establishments in the locality to talk about dementia.
Family care givers need emotional and technical support and regular respite from care giving to maintain quality care giving. Towards this end, ARDSI Calcutta holdscarer support group sessions where the family care givers can have some free, light and enjoyable time sharing their experiences and also discussing practical care tips.

There is a huge dearth of research in the non-clinical aspect of dementia in India. ARDSI Calcutta is striving to build research data in regards to caregiving journey.
As part of reaching people in rural areas, ARDSI Calcutta has started the project in Chandernagore “Dementia Clinic and Care Center” to render clinical services, to improve awareness among the local people and outreach areas and conduct research, academics and training.
On 15th May, 2022 ARDSI Calcutta has started a new center in Siliguri to reach people of North Bengal. In coming months the focus will be raising awareness all over North Bengal and conducting training on dementia care for family members and paid caregivers.
ARDSI CALCUTTA has also signed MOU with Rotary club of Calcutta & Sarsuna College, Kolkata for reaching out to people with information on brain health awareness
